Two golf courses to choose from, and both offer panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, the golf course at Palmas del Mar Resort is a treat for any golf enthusiast. Designed by Reese Jones – a well-known golf course, the Flamboyan Course opened in 1998, and is the longest course in the 7,117 yards and is considered the best and most advanced building in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
The course is designated with a number of memorable, pitfalls and subtle challenges that need to be explored. The Fairways course drains along a 20-acre lake of water, some bordering the Caribbean Sea while others cross the Candelero River. The 12th Flamboyan golf course is a solid site that needs to be skillfully beaten to reach the green area raised behind the finished canal and the breathtaking back of Vique Island.
Recognized as the longest and toughest college in the Caribbean, the Flamboyan golf course has received several awards since its inception, most notably the Best Class Award with Barron Magazine and the Golf Digest Golf award in Puerto Rico.
Opened in 1974 and originally designed by golf champion Gary Player, Palm is the youngest of the two courses at Palmas del Mar, but no less challenging than their sister Flamboyan. The course features tree-lined trunks and uncooked vegetables, and is challenging and interesting with sand traps, hot spots and skillfully placed bunkers. Succeeding at Palm golf course requires high accuracy in wood, which is always a challenge even for seasonal golfers.
Palm 14 and 16 golf courses offer uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea, giving players a great opportunity to experience the wonders of nature. In addition to these two golf courses, the amenities of a restaurant in Palmas del Mar include a dual drive range, two practice sessions, an enthusiastic youth program, orientation and clinics at all levels of golf, all neglected by two golf experts.
Spread over 40,000 square feet, the clubhouse at the golf course offers a mix of entertainment and leisure facilities and is complete with a Golf Shop, lounge, dining area and grill and patio time. In addition, the clubhouse also provides locker rooms for both ladies and gentlemen, as well as various locker rooms for tourists and a locker and storage bag.
If you are looking for the best and most memorable moment of golf or just a day of relaxation among the stunning scenery, Palmas del Mar should not be missed.
